Redefining Supplier Transparency in the Pharmaceutical Compounding Industry
BY: Maurizio De Stefano, Vice President, Compliance and Education at Medisca
In pharmaceutical compounding, quality of pharmaceutical ingredients is too often assumed rather than demanded. While price, speed, and convenience matter, they should never come at the expense of quality. Quality must be the baseline against which all other considerations are measured — not an optional differentiator but a fundamental requirement.
At Medisca, quality is never optional. It is not a premium feature or a competitive add-on. We view it as the foundation of safe, compliant, and sustainable compounding solutions. Without it, every decision, process, and product can carry direct risk to patients, pharmacies, and the integrity of the entire supply chain.
As regulatory scrutiny intensifies and compounding grows more complex, suppliers must evolve. The industry does not need transactional vendors. It needs partners who aim to reduce risk, simplify complexity, and uphold every product and process to the highest standards.
This is the Medisca Quality difference: we deliver more than products. We deliver quality-led solutions, and we partner with you at every step.
Medisca Quality is never taken for granted, never negotiated, and never hidden. It is validated across our products, our partners, and our processes.
To make this tangible, Medisca is launching a new initiative that provides partners with updates on regulatory audits of Medisca facilities and operations. This transparency reflects our dedication to reducing risk and complexity in pharmaceutical compounding.
Trust is earned through consistency and evidence, not claims. Sharing regulatory audit results is, in our opinion, one of the clearest ways we demonstrate this principle in action.
This initiative reinforces four pillars of Medisca Quality:
Medisca Quality starts with how we select, qualify, and retain suppliers. Partnerships are built on the expectation that quality leadership is non-negotiable and demonstrable over time. These are augmented with Vendor Qualification Programs and governmental agency audits whose outcomes are not simply pass/fail events but rather signals of system strength, responsiveness, and accountability. Gaps trigger rigorous corrective actions, while excellence is sustained through continuous monitoring and improvement. This ensures that quality is an operational reality.
For customers, this approach translates into fewer unknowns, reduced risk, and greater confidence in every decision. It means visibility instead of opacity, evidence instead of assurances, and partnership instead of transactions. In a regulatory environment where scrutiny is rising and tolerance for error is shrinking, transparency is critical.
Medisca Quality has been foundational to who we are since day one. It is a long-term commitment reinforced through consistent action and clear communication. Audit result transparency is one of the ways we ensure this promise remains visible, measurable, and meaningful.
Quality is not something we claim once. It is something we have built, refined, and delivered consistently and what our healthcare community counts on for the benefit of their patients, their operations, and their reputation every day.
